Scope
- Book Page content object > Fill in the Fields object > Design Controls > Distance property
- Book Page content object > Multiple Choice object > Design Controls > Distance property
Purpose
This property defines the distance (in pixels) to be left between the 'answer controls' for a question object.
The Quick Help panel says that this is specified as a number of pixels, but for Multiple Choice questions it isn't that straightforward, as the space between controls is also affected by the font size of the associated 'answer' lines (which is specified in the parent question's Design > Font Size property), and the Size of the selection controls themselves. However, the Font Size doesn't completely override the Distance - If you specify a Font Size of (e.g.) 40pt and a Distance of 8, some additional space will be added, even though there is already more than 8pt of space between the controls due to the font line spacing (which is determined by the Font Size. Because of this, it is probably best to adjust the Size, Distance, and Font Size properties together and determine the 'best' settings for them both all.
