Where to find it

  • Manager > Administration > Server Settings menu > Versionining category > Force new version on finish editing setting

Purpose

Whenever you change a content object and then Finish Editing, your changes are saved as a new version of the content object. If you have not made any changes to the content object then a new version is not created. If this setting is selected, then a new version is created every time the aithor finishes editing, even if the content object has not been changed.

Because there is no 'cancel check-out' feature in SAP Enable Now (at least as of the 20.11 edition), Authors are required to 'finish editing' for an object they have checked out (by 'start editing'), this setting should be used with caution as it can result in multiple identical versions.
