Where to find it

  • Authoring Settings > Audio > Audio Formats setting

Purpose

These two settings specify the default audio quality to use when recording, generating, or editing audio. The field on the left is the 'editing quality' and the field on the right is the 'publishing quality' (that is, the quality at which the audio should be generated for playback). You should always have an editing quality at least as good as the publishing quality. If the editing quality is lower than the publishing quality then a warning will be issued during editing (because you can't magically publish a lower-quality file at a higher quality).
