Where to find it

  • Manager > Administration > Server Settings menu > SAP Companion category > Enable External Authentication setting

Purpose

For customers who have third parties accessing their SAP systems (for example, for Concur or Ariba), it is possible to provide these third-party employees with access to SAP Companion help content without these third-party employees having an ID in the SAP Enable Now system (and therefore consuming a license). To make use of this capability, the customer must purchase SAP Enable Now, cloud edition, consumption option for external workers licenses, as an add-on to their existing SAP Enable Now licenses, and this setting must be enabled.

This is only possible if SSO is enabled for the customer's 'main' SAP Enable Now licenses, as the functionality checks to see if someone is trying to access the SAP Companion content not via SSO, and if this is the case, will then check to see if this setting is enabled, and if it is, grant access.
