Where to find it
- Authoring Settings > Recording - General > Control Recognition Method
Purpose
This setting specifies how screen elements (controls) will be recognized during recording. This can be one of the following:
- Profound Recognition: Elements will be identified using the appropriate Application profile, to (as far as possible) recognize an element based on the application interface coding. This is the best method to use, (usually) captures the Object Name and Object Image correctly, and allows effective re-recording.
- Simple Recognition: Objects will be identify based on their position on the screen and their image. This does not normally result in the Object Name and Object Image being captured correctly, and cannot be used for re-recording. However, for recording via Citrix or a Terminal Server / RDC, this option may be the best choice to allow successful recording (albeit without context capture).
