Scope

  • Content object > Protocol > Version property

Purpose

The Protocol property identifies the current version number of the content object, along with the total number of versions. There are a couple of important things to note with Version numbers:

  1. The Version number is based on 'saves to the server', and not 'check-ins' (Finish Editing events).
  2. The Version number may not necessarily correlate to the number of times the content object has been saved to the server. If the Author saves the content object multiple times within the period specified in the Manager Admin > Server Setttings > Versioning > Timeout for new version at commit (min) setting, only a single Version is saved (effectively, all changes within this period are rolled up into the 'latest version') - unless the Author selects the Force new version parameter, in which case the current 'save' creates a new Version regardless of the commit timeout.
