Purpose
The History table provides a summary of every server-related interaction that has taken place for the (server-managed) object. For each interaction, the following information is provided (from left to right):
- An icon representing the type of event (which is specified in the next column).
- Event: A short text description of the event. This may contain additional information, depending upon the type of event captured—for example, a Save to server event will indicate the version number that was saved; a change in Status will show the old and new Status values.
- User: The Userid and name of the Author who triggered the event.
- Date/Time: The date and time at which the event occurred (in your local time; allow for timezone differences when dealing with users in other locations).
Most of the events are fairly obvious, and you will likely know what caused them. However, the Save to server event may be captured in response to a number of different actions (for example, manually clicking on the Save to Server button or closing Producer and selecting Synchronize), and there is no way to tell the difference between these events.
You can display the details of any event by double-clicking on it in the History table. This will display a dialog box that contains much of the same information as the History table, but also contains two additional pieces of information:
- Message: This is shown only for Finish editing events, and contains any text that the Author entered in the Finish Editing dialog box
- Committed: This checkbox indicates whether or not the change was ‘committed’ (that is, saved and confirmed) to the server. It should always show as selected, to indicate that the event was successfully performed on the server.
