Scope

  • Content object > References Dialog property (button)

Purpose

This button in the Property sheet for a content object allows you to display a list of the other objects in the Workarea that reference the parent content object. These referencing objects are typically:

  • (S) Structural objects (usually Groups) that contain the referenced object
  • (C) Content objects that link to the referenced object (such as a Book Page that contains a link to a simulation play mode)
  • (C) Content objects that use a Placeholder to a property of the referenced object

Use

Click on the References Dialog button to display a dialog box containing the references to the current object.

Example of the References dialog box showing 1 structure link and 3 reference links

At the top of the dialog box are checkboxes for choosing whether you want to:

  • Show Structure References (S) above
  • Show Content References (C) above

Below this is a table of the referencing objects. For each object you can see (from left to right)

  1. An icon of the type of link: Reference (a folder symbol) or Content (a link symbol)
  2. The Name of the referencing object
  3. The content type of the referencing object
  4. The UID of the referencing object

You can jump to any of the listed objects in the Workarea by clicking on it in the table.
