Alternative Step n

Where to find it

Purpose

These three properties are used to define how a Desktop Assistant Guided Tour should handle cases where the expected screen element is not found on the current screen.

Use

If the expected element for a Guided Tour Step cannot be found on the current screen, a warning message is displayed. If the user clicks on this, a dialog box showing the expected screen and the location of the element is displayed. Users can navigate to this screen and locate the element, quit, or go to the next step.

Alternatively, the Next Guided Tour Step properties can be used to determine how to progress. If Alternative Steps are specified, then Desktop Assistant will display the (current) Step Bubble in the center of the screen, including a Next button.

If the user clicks Next, Desktop Assistant will attempt to locate the element for the (next) Alternative Step, and will display its Step Bubble with a Next button if the element isn't found. This process then repeats until the user reaches the last Alternative Step specified, at which point the message on the left is displayed, as usual.
