Cache Lifetime (s) for Entity Files for Authors

From SAP Enable Now Wiki

Where to find it

  • Manager > Administration > Server Settings menu > General page > Caches and Timeouts category > Cache Lifetime (s) for Entity Files for Authors

Purpose

Objects displayed in the browser will be cached, and if a user displays the same object within the number of seconds specified in the Caching time range setting, the cached version will be (re)displayed. If more than this number of seconds has elapsed, a new version will be retrieved from SAP Enable Now.

The Cache Lifetime (s) for Entity Files for Authors can be used to specify a different caching time for users with write access ('Authors'). Typically, authors are changing content and want to see their changes immediately, you would normally have a lower value here than for Caching time range. Because you will likely have significantly fewer Authors than Learners, server workload is less of a concern with this setting.

Use

Setting Cache Lifetime (s) for Entity Files for Authors to -1 will prevent the content from being cached at all, and a new copy will be retrieved every time the user displays it.
