Force new version increment
From SAP Enable Now Wiki
Where to find it
- Manager > Administration > Server Settings menu > Versionining category > Force new version increment setting
Purpose
Normally, each time you Finish Editing after editing a content object, your changes are saved as a new version of the content object. Any intermediate saves to the server do not create a new version - only when you finish editing. If this setting is selected, then a new version is created every time the Author saves the content object to the server, even if they have not finished editing.
Creating new versions for intermediate saves is useful as it creates more potential 'revert to' points, but should be used with caution as it can create multiple unnecessary versions that then need to be cleared out using Housekeeping.
