Scope

  • Simulation content object > Text-To-Speech Override macro

Purpose

The Text-To-Speech Override macro is used to provide an alternative text that will be used when generating Text-to-Speech audio for the parent Step - as opposed to using the Demo Text or Practice Text (depending upon your settings and/or overrides).

Use

To insert a Text-To-Speech Override macro, click anywhere within the Step to which the alternative text should be used (audio is always generated at the Step level) and select menu option Insert > Insert Special Macro > Text-To-Speech Override.

The macro will be inserted immediately after the Screen macro, and before any action macros. Initially, the Text property will contain the text that would otherwise be used, allowing you to just make minor changes to this, if necessary.

This macro is useful if you need to 'force' the pronunciation of certain words within the Bubble - for example, changing "SAP" (which the default Text-to-Speech engine will generate as "sap" - as in tree sap) to "essay pea" so that the individual letters are 'sounded out'.
