  1. In Web Assistant with S/4 Hana 2021 system – Editing not allowed. ( Sorry, you cannot edit the item. Make sure that the write permission is available. It is currently owned by . ) . Can you please let me know how to correct htis.

    1. If no username is shown in the message, and this is the first time the person editing it has accessed SAP Enable Now (at all – not just via WA) then probably the Data Privacy requirement is active, and the person has not accepted that. Get them to log onto Manager directly and accept the GDPR statement, and then try again. If a username IS shown in the message, contact that person and ask them to finish editing the project for the screen.

  2. In The Complete Web Assistant, you recommend a separate workarea for both help and training. We have extended, though, our workareas from a “Template” workarea in order to help with standardization: One template, one edit.

Could we set up a help workarea (“Ariba from SAP” for example) that “connects” to the help content from SAP, but we do not extend it to any other workareas. Rather, we treat is as a dead-drop, of sorts, from which we export content and import it into the target/end workarea.

Have you seen a set-up like this? Thoughts?

    1. Yes. I see this used fairly often – typically where you want to pick-and-choose which standard content you want to make available to your users (vs. having everything visible). You have your own Workarea (A) which is Based On the standard Workarea (B). When you identify standard content in (B) that you want to use, you Fetch it from (B) into (A), Export from (A) then import into (C) – which is the user-facing Workarea. Your scenario expands on this slightly, as you also have (D) which contains your Templates, and (C) is based on (D). Again, (C) is your user-racing Workarea (i.e. your application is configured to point to (C) for training content). 100% valid.

  3. Hi Dirk,

If you create custom web assistant content in one instance of SucessFactors, does it work in other instances (assuming they point to the correct workarea).

    Example:

We have a QAS and PRD version of SF. I want to create/test web assistant in QAS and then later turn it on in SF. Will the content i created in QAS still work in PRD? In the web assistant properties of objects all I can see is the product name and version.

    Kind Regards,
    Sean

    1. Yes. Assuming both SF systems are configured to point to the same SAP Enable Now Workarea, yes – whatever you create ‘against’ one system will also be visible in the other (assuming same application and version level). This approach is used a lot, as content creators are usually working in a ‘non-production’ system.

  4. hello i am trying to put together a enable now simulation template and i cannot get the text to remain centered in the practice bubbles, no matter what options i choose or pixel size i adjust for the practice bubble, the text will always have about a half inch of space above but none below. any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    1. It may be down to the space it is leaving for a header (which, interestingly, you can only enter for Bubbles when used on a Book Page). Or you might be using a Title Bar that is the same color as the bubble background. What Bubble Template did you use (or which standard Bubble Style did you duplicate)? I’ll see if I can reproduce it. (I don’t have this issue with any custom Bubbles I have defined.)

      1. Pretty sure it is due to the space being left for the header, which seems impossible to get rid of… Been using White Island, only pre-set styles which get rid of the leading return space are Comic Speech, Blue Sunset, & Yellow Classic… Creating a new style in the style editor based on “Rounded Corners” leads to the same issue no matter its settings, using those other 3 styles seems the only way around it, yet Rounded Corners are very much preferred… Have been struggling w this issue for years across EN versions, my quasi-work-around is standardizing the height of all bubbles as to atleast vertically center their text… A really frustrating issue.

        1. Mike: Yes, you’re right. It is basically space left for the Title (even though you can only define a Bubble Title for Bubbles when they are used within a Book Page (and not simulations)). The other problem (and why the ‘non-rounded-corners’ options don’t suffer from the same problem (as much) is that when Bubbles are displayed, it is actually built up from multiple graphics – including separate images (image files) for each corner and the arrow – and it basically has a blank ‘edge’ piece that is the same height as the ’rounded corner’ piece – and that can’t have any text in it. So short answer, not a lot you can do. But I feel your pain – I anguished over the same thing for a long while before reaching acceptance…

  5. I have developed my SEN courseware that is housed in an LMS. When playing back, I can’t transition from one lesson to the next when I click a “Next Lesson” button in the LMS. I just replays the same lesson. Is there a setting that should be changed in SEN to correct this behavior?

    1. SAP Enable Now doesn’t support SCORM sequencing. So your choice is to either load the two modules as separate SCORM packages and sequence them in the LMS, or include them both in a single SCORM package (via a higher-level container) and then users will have to complete them both to be marked complete.

      1. Hi Dirk.

Are you reachable by Teams to share screens and have a conversation about this?

  6. Hello,
    I have couple of questions.

    1) We want to a add a specific role in web assistant-learning center and want to assign users to this role, is that possible? As far as I researched, we can select only manager roles such as SME, master author, guest etc. By the way, I extended my workarea and selected SAP’s standard workarea as base workarea so I want to additionally add my own roles to these. Is that possible?

    2) For example, our customer uses web assistant in their SuccessFactors system. And they want only some of their employee to see some learning content. Can this be restricted via using roles or some rules? If so, how can we manage this in enable now manager?

    3) We tried to create a guided tour about editing a field in employee profile in SuccessFactors. We have write and read permissions for that field and we can access to this guided tour. But we checked if a user who doesn’t have write and read permission can see that content, then we proxy to that kind of user in the system and she can see that guided tour, she can play them. Guided tour stuck in first step. How can we prevent that user seeing that content in that kind of situations?

    4) We created a book page in producer and want to upload it directly to web assistant, learning center. According to info center’s said, we selected Record Web Assistant in producer, but the version and product name didn’t fill in automatically (we don’t know why) so we filled them manually and saw that content in learning center however it was blank, we inserted a image to that book page in producer. Can you explain the reason why?

    5) Actually, this is our first time using and meeting enable now so we wonder what kind of route map we need to follow. We have an admin user, we extended our workarea to see SAP’s standard content. We can create content for web assistant in web assistant. We can access to producer and instant producer. But we didn’t anything about authorizations and permissions. Our customer wants to use enable now in their SuccessFactors system. So do we need to import only content authors to manager? What should we do about importing users?

    6) Can we import a library other than SAP standard library? Can the learning content we created in enable now be entegrated with LMS module of SuccessFactors? For example, we created it in enable now but want to watch and complete them in SuccessFactors. Are they synchronized? Or we watched and completed in enable now but want to see our progress in LMS in SuccessFactors. Is that possible?

    1. As noted on the Community, that’s a lot of (fairly technical) questions. If you are asking on behalf of ‘your customer’ you are the service provider – so you should know this, then? Or is this the first customer you have who uses SAP Enable Now? Either way, I think you need to get some SAP Enable Now consulting help. Contact your SAP CEE, or find an independent implementation consultant (like myself). Very short answers in the meantime, below:

      1. You want to add a role to allow what? The Learner role is usually sufficient. If you want to segregate who can see what content – in S/4 yes via separate Catalogs. In SuccessFactors, no.
      2. As 1
      3. Not sure what you mean by proxying to a user. But in short, if a user can access the app they will see the GT. But note there is a setting in a GT Step to say ‘skip step on missing UI element’ which may help you.
      4. Check it is published, Also all Resources.
      5. Every person consuming (customer) content located in SAP Enable Now needs a Userid in SAP Enable Now. If you are using ONLY standard content no, Learners do not need an ID, but as soon as you are accessing custom content, yes they do. But on-prem vs. cloud also comes into play here.
      6. Yes and no. You can import SEN-created content into SF as SCORM packages, but if you consume content directly in SEN that will NOT automatically be reflected in SF.

Again, engage an implementation consultant – they’ll be able to help with all of this and more.

  7. Hello Dirk,
Would you have any suggestions for the following issues:
    1. Audio does not start playing with the first step but plays well when I go one step ahead and come back
    2. Any way to get the Description / Short Description appear just below the title in the title page (and not above the project content in the next page) in a standard doc?

    Thank you!

    1. Linda:

There’s answers to the same question on the SAP Enable Now Community here, but in brief:

      • Check you are using the correct (or best) Recording Profile.
      • Make sure scripting is enabled in the application
      • Make sure your Windows Text Scaling is 100% and your Browser scaling is 100%
      • Always click in the field before you start typing (even if the cursor is already in there)

      HTH, Dirk

  8. when we publish elearning developed in SAP Enable Now, the graphics don’t appear in static king of pages but the simulation pages are working fine.

    1. If you mean that graphic objects are being displayed in a different place during playback then yes, I have seen this. It can happen if you have Zoom to Fit specified, and especially if you have Grouped objects. I’m guessing the problem is that during the scaling SEN has to make some (imprecise) calculations about where to put things and how big to make them. I personally set my Book Page Reader to always display at 100% specifically to avoid this problem (which is annoying, but…). Try that and/or ungrouping objects if you can. If neither of those options will work for you, open an Incident with SAP so they are aware of the issue.

  9. Please help us find and change the settings in resources that will enable our courses to be responsive Currently, when a learner resizes the window the course canvas does not also resize or adjust.

      1. Thank you. Enabling Zoom for Desktop Playback and choosing fit to screen makes the course responsive when played back.
