  1. Hi Dirk,

We are trying to upload SCORM file in SABA and have the included settings to track completion. But somehow, we are encountering following problems:
    1. Demo mode, although attempted 4 times, it is still appearing as failed
    2. The PDF outputs – Hands of guide, job help, although attempted, still showing as Not Attempted.

    Request your inputs.

    1. Him John: I’ve never used SABA so I can’t say for certain but the immediate thing to check is that the user is exiting from the simulation correctly – ideally by clicking on a ‘next’ button in the End Step (or by using the actual End macro). SAP Enable Now seems to only pass the completion for a step when you navigate off it, so if the user is just closing the simulation in the last step, they might not be registering completion. I find it helps to have a Book Page at the end with a big button labeled Complete that then triggers an Exit action. Also check the completion level in the Course Assessment. If this is set to 80% they should be marked as complete even if they manage to miss the last step/close. For the PDF outputs I don’t know – it should flag them as ‘compete’ once they are opened (as it can’t tell anything else). My overall recommendation is to turn on Debug mode and see what is being triggered when. If you don’t have a demo SABA system you can test this in, consider using SCORM Cloud. There’s a couple of videos here and here that may help.

  2. Hi Dirk,

My question is around assignment of course.
    1. It is possible to control the content visibility in Learner’s view based on user roles?
    2. If I assign course under course assignment to all users but if I add specific business role under. Business role section, how and where does it have the affect?
    3. I want to control the visibility in Learner’s view based on user roles. E.g course on Account Receivable assigned to both Finance Manager and an Accountant. Is that possible?

    1. Hi, John:

      1. No, assuming you are referring to ‘Business Roles’. If you mean SAP Enable Now roles (Standard Author, Learner, etc.) then see (3) below.
      2. It doesn’t. One would think one could limit Pages (or Books) based on a Business Role assignment, but that’s not how it works. I asked SAP why not, because that seems to be such an obvious thing to want to do, and they replied that they didn’t think that was a valid use case, because you already effectively had ‘filtering’ on the Course Assignment anyway, so another level of filtering was unnecessary. So that’s how you need to achieve it – create separate courses and assign them to different user groups. (The one saving grace there is that re-use of slides across courses is easy and convenient…). So where do Business Roles take effect? Pretty much nowhere (maybe via direct access in the Trainer); I think the intention was that it would be used within SAP Companion, but that relies on the application passing the Business Role names as part of the ‘context’, and so far no applications actually do that.
      3. Yes, just create separate Course Assignments and assign them to the different roles (as per Q2 above).

      1. Thanks Dirk. Followup question:
        1) So basically Business Role does not really have any value if the content is published at Learners view but will play role only in case of SAP Companion. Right?
        2) To incorporate role based training in Learner’s view, I tried below:
        a) Created an Org under Org unit and thereafter created 3 users roles within this Org unit
        b) Assigned Leaner’s view and Content View and comment permission to these roles
        c) Created 3 new users and and assigned each one the above roles
        d) In the course assignment, I assigned these 3 users 3 courses under 1 main course structure.
But this did not work. All 3 users can see all the course.

How to acheive role based training?

        1. (1) Correct
          (2) My guess is that it’s going wrong at (d). You should have three Course Assignment entries: One for each course (as the Selected Object), and with the relevant Role as the Selected Identity. You don’t need a separate Org Unit for this – you’re not assigning courses to OUs – and it doesn’t matter where the Roles that you specify in the Course Assignment sit. The Roles each just need the standard Learner permissions – you could even assign these three Roles to the Learner role and they will inherit those permissions.

  3. hi! How are you?

Just in case, do you know how can I connect SAP Companion with BTP? Are there some public manuals to read?

    Thanks a lot!

    1. I think that is one of the scenarios covered in the SAP Companion Integration Guide available on help.sap.com.

  4. We are not able to launch producer. When we click on the .senl file it producing connection error message. We have checked firewall, etc and still not able to determine root cause. Any thoughts what else to check to fix?

    1. On your PC, go to Internet Options (just type that in the Search bar). This will display the Internet Properties dialog box. Go to the Advanced tab, and make sure Use TLS 1.3 is not selected. If that works, you owe me a coffee. If it doesn’t let me know and there’s some other things we can try. HTH

      1. Hi Dirk – unfortunately this is not checked. It appears something to do with trying to write to the wpb_cloud directory.

Interestingly enough when we first boot it does work to download the content but after a few minutes (Global policy applied) something is blocking from working.

Therefore looking at what else might be to investigate. Have reviewed the KB articles as well. Hoping for any other ideas as it has been quite some time this is not working.

  5. Hello! How are you?

I have a problem with user reports. I can not fint them, Do we have a new upgrade in SEN or we have another form to see the reports?

    Thanks a lot!

  6. HI, I am getting this error when trying to preview my simulation. The macros are there.

To playback the content properly, one start macro at the beginning and one stop macro at the end of the project is required. Your project is not correct and cannot be fixed automatically. Do you want to correct your project manually?

    1. Make sure the Simulation Start macro is the very first thing in the very first step, and the Simulation End macro is the very last thing in the very last step. Also make sure you don’t have duplicate copies of these macros anywhere else in your simulation.

      1. That worked! There was an extra start macro on the third slide in. I’m going to buy you a coffee. Cheers!

  7. Strange behaviour of Microsoft Office products with using hyperlinks to SEN content.
When we use an URL in Word to, let’s say a DEMO in SAP Enable Now Manager (published), and click on it, the system does not open the requested demo but instead logs in to the manager and navigates to the last object I was in just before logging out from the SEN Manager. If I paste the same URL directly in Edge, it works, if I put the URL in some HTML file it works, if I put the URL in LibreOffice it works?! What are we doing wrong?

What's on your mind?
