  1. Hi Dirk,

A question regarding Web Assistant : can we use our glossary on Web Assistant content ? (same as for Desktop Assistant).
We spent time on building it and we’d like to keep it somehow in the WA.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    1. Carine: Unfortunately not. I believe there are plans (or at least a Customer Improvement Request) to allow that, but its currently not there. You can always manually add links to glossary terms and have then open in a lightbox (now) but that’s not exactly convenient. Alternatively you could provide a Link Tile that points to the Glossary in the Trainer…

  2. Can I publish a simulation with a format, that can be opened by users that have no SAP Enable Now on their laptops?

    1. Yes, there’s several options:
      1. Publish the content outside of SAP Enable Now to a Web Server
      2. Publish it as an SLC file (if your users have access to the SLC Player, which is only distributed with an on prem version of SEN)
      3. Publish it as a .exe
      4. For individual simulations, publish the Demo mode as a .mp4 or .wmv video
      5. And, obviously, publish it as a SCORM package loaded into an LMS

  3. Hi Dirk,

New question regarding Simulations Test mode : we’d like to change the standard message that appears at the end of the test in case of success/failure, but we didn’t find where to do it… 🙁
Is there also a way to change the target success % (currently 80 by default) ?

Thanks in advance for your help !

    1. The text is almost certainly in the Playback Dictionary, depending on which exact text you’re talking about. Look for the TEST_* IDs.

The target success % is defined in the Simulation Start macro (either in the simulation itself or in the Macro Initialization defaults). See the Required Score property.

      1. Great thanks, I found it ! 🙂 I’ll test this right away.
One last question : in the dictionary we have several entries that seems to fit for the same action, eg : TEST_FAILED and TEST_FAILED1 . Where do I specify which one I want to use ?

        1. You will need to create your own (custom) Playback Dictionary (just select the Playback Dictionaries) resource group then click the Add button on the upper right) and make your changes into that. As to which one is used (TEST_FAILED vs TEST_FAILED1) – I don’t know; just try it and see which one works for you. (You don’t need to check in / publish your changes if you just use the Local or Authoring Preview.)

  4. Hey Dirk,

    1. What may be the difference between using placeholder and entering manual object name in bubble? Which one do you recommend and please explain why.

    2. In my Manager, I can find two folders like Unsorted and My Unsorted Objects. Can you please explain them ?

    1. What is this, Test Dirk Day?? 😀

The only difference in using the placeholder vs. manually entering the object name is that if you need to adjust the object name it is easier/faster to change it in the Object Name property and it will automatically be reflected in both the Demo Text and the Practice Text. Additionally, if the object name changes during re-recording, that will be auto-reflected in the bubble texts. Finally, you should always make sure the Object Name property is correctly maintained anyway, as it may be used in generated documents (e.g. via the Input Values macro). I personally always recommend using the placeholder.

Unsorted contains all objects in Unsorted. My Unsorted Objects contains only objects in Unsorted that you created (or maybe that are assigned to you, or you are a watcher – I’d have to check). You should find that everything listed in My Unsorted Objects is also listed under Unsorted. The purpose of pulling your Unsorted objects into a single group (which I believe is a relatively recent addition) is that there typically should not be anything in Unsorted (connected standard content and/or Web Assistant help projects excepted), so gathering them here allows each Author to see only their objects so they can then look into moving them to the ‘correct’ place under Root – kind of to encourage easier housekeeping.

  5. Hi Dirk,
Is there difference between renaming simulation under Basic Properties and renaming simulation using Right click —> Rename (F2) ? Will it make any impact ?

    1. Huge difference and implications. My golden rule is to never change the Simulation Name via the Properties. Full rationale and explanation here.

      1. Thank you so much Dirk. How can I see all of your posts with headings in your website ? It shows only 5 recent posts in the homepage. My suggestion: Can you please create new menu named posts and put everything there with explanatory hyper links ?

        1. Good idea. I’m working on some things, but in the meantime there is always the Search function in the upper-right.

  6. Hello Dirk,

I have the following problem for which you might know a solution:

I would like to create a book or learning module that can be displayed on an iPad in full width without scrollbar.

Unfortunately, I fail here to understand how the resolution affects the display of the image.
The resolution of the iPads is: 2160 x 1620 pixels.

    Kind regards,

    Sarah

    1. I think they key setting you need to worry about is Zoom for Mobile Playback, which you’ll want set to Zoom to Fit. (Or maybe Zoom for Desktop Playback, depending on how an iPad ‘identifies itself’). This is specified in the Playback Settings under Visual Properties, and can be specified globally (trainer – Global), for Books/Book Pages only (Book Reader) or the individual simulation play mode (which I guess you don’t care about). Play around with that and see if you can get it to play the way you want.

  7. Hi Dirk,

I have a question about compatibility between SAP Concur and Web Assistant.
I found in docs that SAP standard content is available for Concur, but is production of custom content supported ?
Thanks in advance for your help !

    1. I also thought I had seen some reference to WA for Concur, but I checked the ‘SAP Enable Now Web Assistant Supported Applications’ document and Concur is not listed there. So I checked with SAP and they say it is not officially supported yet, but coming next year. So the short answer is: No. Where did you see WA support for Concur listed? I can’t recall where I saw it (or SAP have scrubbed the references…).

      1. Hum, not sure to remember where I saw it, I dig in so many pages to find some info…, I’ll check if I can retrieve it.
Thanks for your answer anyway, I’ll pass the info to my customer that it should be ok somewhen next year 🙂
Could you please share the location of the document you mentioned ?

        1. Same here – I know I saw something about it somewhere, but I do a LOT of reading around the subject, and don’t always bookmark… Anyway, the official list is here.

  8. Hi Dirk,
I am not doing any adjustments during recording a simulation. But I m getting this warning in orange color progress bar “Application window is being adjusted. Click again to record”. Can you please help me ?

    1. Can you please help me in this ? I am facing this problem when using browser content area.

      1. I assume this is a follow-up to your last question. Apologies for the delay; I answered it as best I can below.

    2. Usually it is because you have “Fit application window” selected and SEN is trying to adjust the window to the correct size – apparently it is not managing to do so. Check that your Browser zoom level is 100% and that your Windows text size is 100%. Also make sure you are recording against your primary monitor. (Also are you recording via Terminal Server or Virtual Machine? That will likely mess things up as well.

      1. So if I deselect “Fit application window” setting will I be saved from this warning?

I am facing the same warning which is not allowing me to proceed with my recording.

        1. As with my response to Gowtham – first thing to check is your Windows text size, then your browser size. If they are both 100% you should be Ok regardless of the Fit application window setting. But if you are still having problems, deselect that option and manually resize the application window to the correct size before you start recording and see if that helps.

  9. Hi Dirk,

If you have noticed, the action bubbles/callouts in the Practice mode (have started to since about a couple of years) appear in the center and not beside the hit area as with the Demo mode. I tried changing the Orientation in the Settings to Southeast (and other directions as well), doesn’t work.
Could you suggest a resolution to this? Will save a lot of time!

    Thank you!

    Best,
    Johanna

    1. One additional question, how do I enable the Highlight in Practice mode WHILE recording and nor have to do it as part of editing. I can always select all action macros together and enable it but for new users it may seem too complicated. As with other issues, I tried setting this up in the Settings panel, still doesn’t work.
      Please suggest.

      Thank you!

      1. You can change the default here: Authoring Settings > Macro Initialization > Interactions > {interaction type} > ”’Simulation”’ category > Highlight in Practice. (See here.)

        1. Thank you so much for this tip Dirk. Did this already and it kept going back to the original settings. Any reason? I am not connected to the Manager.

          1. Hmm. If you are not connected to the Manager (why not? – Are you on prem?) it shouldn’t be overridden at login or anything. But you should really be saving your changes to the server anyway, which would take care of that. I don’t know why it would change back again, unless you are either not saving your changes successfully, or you are changing it in the Project Overrides…

  10. Hi Dirk,
Can you please tell me what is the use of Is Subroutine option in Simulation ?

    1. Effectively, nothing. You can ignore it. I think it’s a holdover from some discontinued functionality. Why, what are you trying to do?

      1. No. I m just looking at few unused options in Producer. I also find jump as target option in simulation. Can you please explain me this ?
