  1. Hi Dirk,

I have recently purchased Sap Enable Now Test and Demo. Upon login I cannot see Workareas. It’s not visible even under Administration. Kindly guide.

    1. John:

Chances are you as a User have not been given permissions on the Workareas. This is an oddity of SAP Enable Now is that Workareas are initially only accessible in Manager to the Super Admin (Userid admin). Log in under that ID, go to Workareas / Tags, click the Permissions for each Workarea (except System) and add Administrators (full permissions) and Standard Authors, Master Authors, SMEs, etc. (Create permissions).

  2. When the video is generated successfully, the image starts to shift on every frame to comments and zooms in the view. How can i fix this, so the image would be statical?

    1. You mean in an actual video – an .MP4 generated from Tools > Generate Video? Does it play OK in Demo mode? If the problem only happens in the generated video then it may be a problem with the video codec. All video generation does is plays back Demo mode and records that playback. If Demo mode doesn’t play back correctly either, does the recording look OK in the editor? If that is also zooming in you may have recorded using Active Window. Otherwise check your Zoom settings in your Playback Settings. Also try playing the video back in another application and see if that makes a difference.

    1. You don’t install fonts into SAP Enable Now – it uses whatever fonts are available in Windows. Install the fonts in Windows and they will be available in SAP Enable Now. Just make sure your users/learners will also have the font installed.

  3. Hi Dirk,
We’d like to plug several Workareas to our Web Assistant on S4 system, is it something supported / feasible ?
Idea is to have 1 WA with general content (for all end users), and other WA with different authorizations for dedicated groups of users (with security/role restricted content).
Thanks in advance for your help.

    1. You can certainly create multiple Fiori Catalogs – one for each user group – that each points to a separate Workarea, and then control access to each Catalog via roles. That’s a fairly common set-up. Things get slightly more complicated when you introduce your ‘common’ Workarea. Each Catalog can only point to a single SEN Workarea. In theory you could also have a Catalog for the Common Workarea, and assign this to all roles, but I think that may cause conflict/contention issues when it comes to actually displaying Web Assistant. At best it would be unpredictable/inconsistent and at worst it would just give up and display nothing. However, what you could do (and what would be a much more elegant/logical solution) is to BASE each of the role-specific Workareas on your Common Workarea, so that all the common content is also available ‘through’ the role-specific Workarea. That would definitely work, but the caveat there is you can only base one Workarea off one other (as a single pair) – you can’t chain them. So if you currently have your client Workarea(s) based on the SAP Standard S4 Workarea, you either can’t do it, or need to lose the Standard content (or manually copy it in, instead of linking it – but that’s not ideal, either). HTH, Dirk

      1. I think we’ll have to check and test what’s best in our case. Thanks anyway for your very helpful and quick reply !

  4. Hello…can you tell me if I can move the “Role Name” section of the BPM Object from the bottom to the top of the box? Also can the color of that same “Role Name” be changed ? I would like to color code each separate process step.

    1. No, you can’t change the Role to be at the top (which is more traditional, so it might be worth a Customer Influence Request to have it as a global setting). Yes, you can change the color of then ‘role name’ section – it’s all in the Design Role category of properties for the BPM Object.

  5. Help! I cannot figure out how to restore a previous version of a recording. Please help.

    1. It depends on what you have done and when/where you saved it, but assuming you had saved the previous version to the server, Start Editing on the simulation project, then right-click on it and select Server Actions > Revert Object from the shortcut menu.

  6. Hi Dirk,
Regarding Web Assistant, is it supported to have 2 SAP S/4 environnement (eg QUAL and PROD ones) pointing to the same Workarea ?
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Yes. That’s actually a very common situation, as it allows authors to create help in QUAL (without potentially affecting production data) and have that help appear in PROD. You’re not ‘tying’ SAP Enable Now to any one system; you’re just telling the system where to get its help content. You can even have a combination of multiple S/4, C4C, Ariba, etc. systems all pointing to the same SAP Enable Now Workarea and it wouldn’t care. (I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it – I at least separate out by system (just in case support shifts to a separate group) – but it’s ‘allowed’…

      1. Thanks !
No special configuration to do on Manager side (except in the CORS list adaption) ? Only on the backends ?

  7. Hi, Recently Enable Now stopped recognizing text/number entries in fields and instead has started putting strange characters (like wingdings) in their place. Any idea what may be causing this? Could an update to Enable Now have made it no longer able to recognize our version of the SAP GUI? We have Enable Now 10.5.9 and SAP (most versions) 6.7 something. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

    1. Hi, Barb.
There’s a couple of reasons why this might be happening. In my experience it is almost always down to an incorrect Recording Profile being used, or (if you are recording SAPGui or S/4) scripting not being enabled in the application. I have heard of this issue if your DPI scaling is not set to 100%, but I’ve not experienced that myself. Failing that, see if anything has changed in your security settings recently – maybe IT put in a change that stops cross-communication between applications.
      HTH, Dirk

      1. Thank you Dirk! The issue is affecting everyone. I did check and adjust resolution because earlier it had been recording each character as a separate step. I also checked to make sure that the scripting settings were correct. I did not think of a security issue, so I will check on that. Another thing that is weird is that in our GUI there is the theme for Blue Crystal, which is what we were told to use, but in Enable Now the only profile is for Corbu/Blue Crystal. It has always been that way and worked before, but I am wondering if that could be causing issues since the Corbu icons are different. Thanks again, and I will let you know what it turns out to be.

  8. I recorded a step in SAP where the mouse changes to a pencil, but Enable didn’t capture the pointer change. How do I fix it so the pencil shows up properly?

    1. Sorry, Cris; you can’t. The mouse pointer is always just the mouse pointer (or a hand). SAP Enable Now can’t capture individual cursor images; it uses the images it has built in.

  9. Is it possible to export the entire contents of SAP Enable Now projects that have been created in the same workspace, and repurpose the contents for another client? If yes, how would one go about this? Thanks

    1. Yes, definitely possible, but make sure you consider copyright / Intellectual Property ownership (in general, whoever pays for its creation owns it). Just select the content, right-click and select Export, and then in the new Workarea, use menu option Workarea > Import Archive to import the (.dkp) file. Make sure you include all applicable resources / referenced objects on the export.
