Hi Dirk, Is it possible to combine scores of a quiz and test mode of a simulation in Enable Now? If possible, can we use the combined scores to determine the pass/fail criteria for course evaluation?
I believe we cannot insert a simulation in a Quiz Object in Enable Now, unlike UPK. Your thoughts please.
Thanks
Siddharth
Combining scores: Yes. If you have Simulations in Test Mode and a Quiz in the same course, both scores will be taken into account.
Sim in a Quiz: Correct, this is not possible in SEN. I did like that feature in UPK, and have put in a Customer Improvement Request to have it added to SEN, but that hasn’t happened yet…
Hello Dirk Sir,
Thanks for your valuable contribution toward enlightening us with your knowledge about SAP Enable Now. I had a question – Can we import an Articulate SCORM published file into SEN and make it play in a new window? Your expert advice will be much appreciated.
(Ha. Just doing what I can to keep the product active.) Short answer: no. It’s not possible to pull any form of SCORM package into SAP Enable Now. Sorry. Best you could do is keep it externally and link to it.
Can we do the opposite? Take a SEN course and put it into Articulate?
Thank you very much for your response, sir. One additional question – Our client has been pushing automation as a major highlight for SAP Enable Now. However, in my span of working with SEN, I’ve only worked on the eLearning and Guided Tours functionality. Does SEN have evident automation features similar to how WalkMe has auto entry of fields, auto-click, chat bot, etc.? Thanking in advance for your help.
Hello Dirk,
Sorry for bothering you again, but I have another question:
Can the Web Assistant (SAP Companion) content be shown only to certain target groups in Success Factors system? Like role visibility (Hiring Manager vs. Recruiter or company A vs company B?)
Many thanks in advance for you answer.
Best Regards,
Yury
Yes, that’s possible. But you’d need to segregate the content into separate Workareas, then create separate Fiori Catalogs for each of them, separate roles that have access to these Catalogs, and then assign these Roles to the relevant users.
Hi Dirk,
If I publish Enable Now content using Scorm export and upload it to some external LMS, e g. Workday, will I be able to track the usage and progress in Enable Now? Is there some integration possibility between the 2 applications? If yes how?
No, and no. But I have a Customer Influence Request to ask for integration between the two, if you want yo go and vote for that.
Thank you for your guidance. Yes. I would definitely vote for it.
Hi Dirk, how do I remove the tracking debug? It was turned on for a scorm file I was publishing to LMS from Enable Now months ago and now it shows up for every scorm file I publish to LMS.
It’s at Playback Settings > trainer – Global > Tracking (General) > Debug Mode. FYI in future, if you go to the wiki: enablenow.wiki and search, the page will tell you exactly where to find the setting. 🙂
Hi Dirk, I’ve gone in every where that I can think of and don’t see debug mode selected but everytime I export my file to scorm and load in SAP Successfactors the debug window appears.
And you’re definitely checking in the Playback Settings resource used for the SCORMing? Often there is a separate resource used for SCORM publishing vs regular consumption. If that’s not it, try loading the same package into SCORM Cloud (or somewhere) and see if Debug is enabled – if not, it could be something in SF.
Hi Dirk,
I don’t see my question so I’m going to repeat it. Sorry if there is duplication.
Is it possible to create default context-independent content for Desktop Assistant (SAP Companion)? User should see some default materials once Desktop Assistant is started for any application without context analysis.
Thanks!
Best Regards,
Yury
Yes, I saw it; I just hadn’t had the opportunity to approve it and respond to it in the 20 minutes since you posted it.
No, I don’t think that is possible Desktop Assistant builds an index of ‘available help’ that it checks, and one of the keys in that index is ‘executable’. I believe you can have a screen-independent help topic, but not application-independent.
Hello, please is in SAP Enable Now any option to generate link to other side of a document or URL in PDF document?
Thank you, Jana
Are you asking if you can have a hyperlink in a PDF? If there is a link in a simulation and you create a PDF from that simulation then that link should still be active in a PDF you create from the simulation. But if it is in a Book Page, no. Book Pages are ‘printed’ as static images, so there is no ‘active’ link.
Hello Dirk,
please, tell me, where can I add a hyperlink in a simulation to print it in pdf? I already have tried to add both of kinds of hyperlink but without success. I only ensured, that a hyperlink is functioned as a text in the Note (Poznámka in Czech language) – see the picture in the attachment.
Then I have read the information, that it is possible to add a hyperlik only in Book and Book pages to a hyperlink works in pdf in other websites.
Thank you, Jana
In a Bubble, select the text you want to be a hyperlink, the select Insert Object (the yellow plus sign) > Insert Llink. Just tested it and it works for me.
Hi Dirk,
Do end users need an SAP EN license to view learning content, even if the content is published and hosted on client LMS? Does that hold true for Web Assistant too? If not, would everyone need a learner’s license?
Also, the client has imported all the standard content into the Manager due to access restrictions, will that require EN license for end users to view WA content?
Thanks
[Edited to clarify official SAP position]
Users need an Enable Now license if they are consuming content FROM SAP Enable Now. If it is published to outside of SAP Enable Now (for example, to an LMS or to an external Web Server) but delivered ‘in SAP Enable Now format’ they DO need a license. If it is published as PDF, Word, or video then users do NOT need a license to consume it. If users are accessing the content via SAP Companion (Web Assistant) this is retrieving the content from SAP Enable Now so yes, they will need a license.
If they are consuming ONLY standard content – from SAP’s server – using serviceLayerVersion=UACP then no, they do not need a license, but if you are in extended mode (serviceLayerVersion=EXT – or SEN/WPB) then again yes, they need a license.
Hi Manuel, from what I gathered the licensing terms for the SEN Cloud Product are pretty restrictive and the only exception (ie. the cases for when a end user license is not required) is when it is about PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint documents or .MP4 videos. There is a written License supplement called “sap-enable-now-supplement-english-v4-2022.pdf” detailing these things. However, situation might be diefferent for the SEN On-Premise product – but here I would myself like to know if there are any official stetemnts regarding content use in an LMS, etc.
Christoph: It’s an interesting question. I would take the position that the same restrictions that apply for cloud also apply to on-prem – specifically because the same mechanisms are used. SAP’s position is that if content is delivered using SAP’s Intellectual Property (IP) then it is restricted under license. No, the content does not use a proprietary player (it displays through the browser) but it does use certain JavaScript code to collect and render that content, and that code is (c) SAP. That’s why the only exception is for the document types you mention – because they do not use any SSAP IP to display. That’s my interpretation, after discussions with SAP. But if you want to dig into the licensing agreement itself, SAP Enable Now on prem is covered by the general SAP Software Use Rights, which you can find here (all 80 pages of it).
Hi Dirk!
thanks for your answer!
Yes, you are right, so the context field should be filled in automatically, is it a configuration problem? I need it to activate the learning content in SAP GUI, so I am manually filling in the transaction codes.
Thanks for your time!
It should be filled in, yes. Always has been for me – even when using the Standard recording profile. Send me a .dkp of a simulation you haven’t edited (to dirk@enablenowexpert.com) and I’ll take a quick look.
Thank you a lot!! I am sending to you the simulation .dpk via email!!
Hi Dirk! I have a question!
After recording a simulation, it does not bring context information, how can I solve it? Can it be added after recording?
If context is not being captured correctly during recording then either you are not using the correct recording profile (maybe just using “Quick Record”) or – more likely – you are recording over VDI / Terminal Server and the application you are recording is no a separate server to the one Enable Now is running on. If it is this latter case then you are out of luck. Can you ‘add’ it after the fact? Depending on how you want to use the simulation, possibly. For use via Desktop Assistant or (ECC 6.0) Context Help File you can probably add the transaction-level context manually, but at the field level, no, it would be prohibitively difficult.
I will give you an example, I am recording a simulation in Excel from the producer and I choose the MS EXCEL 2019 profile and when editing it the context information is not displayed, will it be a configuration problem?
That should capture it OK. But you are not seeing any Context information where? In the Screen > Rerecord > Page Key field?
The page key field if I have it
(
)
What I don’t have is the context field
I need it to generate the Context.html right?
If the Page Key property is filled in (with the context info) then the context has been captured OK – even if the Context field has not been filled in (although it should be…).
you only need to generate context.html if you are using the ‘Context Help File’ so you can provide in-app help for ECC 6.0 systems – but in that case, recording against Excel is irrelevant as the Context Help File will only include simulations recorded against ECC 6.0…
