  1. Hello Dirk, how are you?

I have a question about the instant producer. When i am doing a simulation it is recording a screen per letter/digit that I enter in a field, this makes it very slow and difficult to record.
I know it’s a computer configuration problem, .because I tried on another computer and the same thing does not happen. Do you know how to correct it?
    Thank you so much!

    1. Usually that is because of one of two things:
      1. An incorrect Recording Profile is selected – check this
      2. Scripting is not enabled in the application (depending on the application, this could be in the local client (i.e. SAP Logonpad) or on the server (i.e. with S/4). Given that it works on one PC but not the other, I’d guess it is down to the local software. Check that.

  2. Hello, my organization is in the process of obtaining the Manager portion of SAP to help us share simulations and content throughout the different geographic locations of our customers. However, the process is taking much longer than anticipated to get approved from within. Is there a way that we can share test and practice simulations with students on their own workstation without having the manager piece?

We want the students to be able to perform the practice and test areas at their own workstation. The workstations do not have Producer or Instant Producer loaded on their computers.

    1. So you are on-premise, then? Seems odd to have never installed the Manager component already, but OK. There’s two things you can do: (1) Publish a ‘Standard’ package out to a Web Server (running IIS or Apache) that all your users have access to, or (2) publish to .exe files and distribute these to your users. (1) is the best option; (2) is only feasible for small packages – per-simulation, or per-course; otherwise the .exe file becomes too large. The usual caveat applies that users accessing your content do need SAP Enable Now licenses – even though they are not using an SAP product to access the content, it was built using SAP technology and is therefore proprietary/licensed.

  3. Hi Dirk!

I have to certify enable now, what questions are usually asked in these questionnaires? Or what specific topics do they ask about? Thank you so much

    1. It’s difficult to say, as when I took the certification it was 80 questions chosen from random from a pool of at least 200 questions (based on comparing notes with other people who took the certification around the same time). When i took it there was only one question about the creation of content, and everything else was on implementations – including some very technical questions on Apache, Web Dispatcher, etc. I do know they reworked it since then to have less questions on on-premise installations (although last I heard up to 20% of the questions were still related to on-premise). Even so, I would still expect it to focus more on implementations, configuration, and customization – possibly with questions around common mistakes. I’d be interested to hear what you had questions on, after you have taken it – email me at dirk@enablenowexpert.com. Sorry I can’t give you more a more definitive answer. Just make sure you know the SEN-300/50 courses inside-out.

  4. Hi Dirk!

Is there a possibility that mozilla firefox will be compatible with SAP Companion for Desktop in the future?

  5. Hello Dirk,
    I hope you’re well,
Can you help me with the following problem?
I get the following error when I want to sync my workareas:

Starus code:500 – Internal Server Error
    URL: /wa/WACAP4/group/GR_CCC3856FCA9BD6BD/

    {“message_error_code”;”file/usr/sap/ljs/us36/.tenants/ahvk1dssxk/.temp/AF15920A26534838AB5BD681DDAFCD6E/entity.xml not found”,”status”:500} found”,”message”:”file/urs/sap/ljs/us36/.tenents/ahvk1dssxk/.tem/AF15920A26534838AB5BD681DDAFCD6E/entity.xml not found”,”status”:500}

I hope you can help me,
    stay tuned,
    Greetings,

    1. That’s the second time I have heard of this error today. Happens for all objects and all users?) I think there is something wrong in SAP Enable Now. Try editing something from Manager and then saving your changes (also in Manager). If that fails with the same error then there is something wrong with your SAP Enable Now instance (and not just Producer / local repository). Open an Incident with SAP ASAP.

  6. Hello Dirk!
Is there a possibility that when I launch a simulation from SAP Companion for Desktop (using the modern style) it will show me the launch options (demo, practice, test, etc.) as in the classic style?

    1. Interestingly, it doesn’t look like you can – there is a Default Start Content option but it only lists the play modes, not ‘project’. However, there is a new version coming in the 2305 release (end of May 2023) that is supposed to be bringing SAP Companion and SAP Companion for Desktop even closer together, so the functionality may change in that release.

  7. Hello Dirk, hope you are doing well.
I have a question. Can we import word and ppt files in to project?
If yes, how to do that?

    1. Yes, but it depends what you want to do with it / how you want it to open. You can import Word as an asset of an object or as a separate Media Object. But you may find that when a user clicks on the link, their browser may insist on downloading it instead of opening it. I think you can do the same thing with PowerPoint, but you can also import PPT and have it converted to a series of Book Pages (one per Slide) – but this is not editable.

  8. Hello Dirk,

I have a question about how to configure Single Sing On, in the documentation it says that it is necessary to create a ticket in the KM-SEN-MGR component to schedule an online meeting with screen sharing, is it really necessary? Or is it enough to enable single sign-on in server settings in admin? What is the difference?

    1. Yes, it is necessary. In order for SSO to work, a certificate needs to be added to the IAS and also to the back-end of the SAP Enable Now server, which only SAP have access to (assuming a cloud environment). So it is very much required (along with IAS/IDP settings) – enabling SSO is usually a fairly big task, not just a simple checkbox setting in Manager.

  9. Hi Dirk,

When is a group’s Lesson.js file updated? Because when I open it, it shows me older content already deleted.

    1. If you mean in your local Producer Workarea, it should be updated when you save it. If server content, it should be updated when you open/download it, but you may want to make sure you are synchronizing, or at least updating from server before editing. I’ve seen some odd problems in this area recently, but I haven’t managed to consistently reproduce so I don’t know exactly what is causing it.

  10. Hello Dirk,

I have a problem with SAP Companion, it shows me the content in different environments in SAP GUI, I have content recorded in QAS, but when I am in DEV it shows me the content recorded in QAS and the content context specifies only the QAS environment. Is there a way to only show me the content of the specific environment?

    1. Hi, Enzo. Short answer, no. SAP Companion considers four things when checking context: Product Name, Product Version, Language, and Application. Sysid is not considered. This is by design, so you can (for example) create content in Dev and it will still appear in Prod.
