Hello Dirk, is it possible to set the controls for the video so that the user can scroll backwards at will, can pause video (that is possible to create some object and with actions), but cannot skip forward in the playback? Thank You.
For a VIDEO? i.e.generated from a simulation as a .mp4? That is standard video functionality provided by the media player. If you mean for demo mode, or auto playback of Book Pages? No – but you can use the navigation buttons on the Control Bar to go forward/back between Steps / Pages.
When I delete few modes from a simulation, the modes are disarranged automatically. I am unable to rearrange them using drag/drop. Any chances to arrange them in demo, practice, test and concurrent order?
By default, simulation modes are always listed in Demo, Practice, Test, Concurrent…etc modes, and you cannot change this. If you delete a mode and then it is recreated (when you save the simulation) then any missing/recreated modes will be listed at the end. If you want to revert back to the deefault ordere, delete ALL modes and recreate them all.
Hello
We have created SAP Companion contents in Quality server. How to push these contents to Production server for the end users training?
So you have TWO SAP Enable Now instances?? Why? You’ll have to export from Quality and import into Production. Or if you mean you have two separate Workareas, you can use Import from other Workarea in Manager. This really isn’rt best practice (especially for a cloud instance) – you should really only have one SEN instance, and create/consume content from the same Workarea.
if you mean you have two separate SAP application 9e.g. S/r) instances, and have built help in QA and now want to have that help visible in the Prod S/4 system – you just need to point your Production S/4 instance to the same Workarea as the content was created in.
Just remember to Publish everything you want to be visible to users.
Is there a way to provide voice-over after recording and editing the simulations?
Yes. From within the Editor, use menu option Project > Convert to Audio Project, and then you can record / import / create audio as necessary.
The practice mode wants the user to enter value in the input field. But this is not suitable for machine translated practice mode where the input entered is in English. Because the bubble text asks to enter the value in other language. Any suggestion to overcome this or simply disable practice mode?
The Bubble Text should be using a Placeholder for the Input Text, and that shouldn’t be translated (but check the Include Control Names setting – maybe that is also covering Input Text). The other alternative is that you select the Translate Manually checkbox for the Bubble Text and manually translate only the bits you want translated. More work, but…
Can guided tours be played using Desktop Assistant? I couldn’t find any help contents in Info Center regarding this. Please help.
Guided Tours created for SAP Companion for Desktop (fka Desktop Assistant) – that is, created from within Producer – yes, of course. If you mean can Guided Tours created from within SAP Companion [for Fiori] (fka Web Assistant) – that is, created from within the target application via the Carousel – be played in SAP Companion for Desktop, then no. It’s an entirely different technology. And there’s currently no way to convert from one to the other.
Hi good morning: I want SAP Companion carousel to be opened automatically and display help content as soon as the user enters the screen. Which parameter will help me to achieve this? Thanks
openImmediately. See https://enablenowexpert.com/wiki/index.php/OpenImmediately
One last question please.
What is the use of “Allow External Users” option in SAP Companion script configuration of an application? What sort of external users it allows?
That’s used for allowing third-parties who access your SAP system to be able to see the help (primarily, suppliers using Concur). But that requires several more things to be set up, and a special ‘external access’ licensing agreement with SAP.
What is the need of “Content Roles” option found in Edit mode -> Gear icon -> Show Context Information in SAP Companion? Its always “Not Provided”. Is Companion allowing for role based content access?
The Content Roles are new, and is to support the Business Roles introduced in SAP Enable Now 2311. (Typical of SAP to have two names for the same thing…). It is showing as “Not provided” because the application is not passing any role information to SAP Companion (that is the part that is still to be developed – and relies on the product developers and not the SAP Enable Now developers…). So for now, you can ignore.
If you really want, you can test this by adding a parameter of &help-roles=Manager (or similar) in the URL, and then it will show as “Requested”…
Hello
Is it possible to turn off SAP Companion for a specific learner? Like that specific learner wants to access Learners View contents but not SAP Companion contents?
With thanks and regards,
Jamila
Can I just create two different workareas for this purpose?
You could create two Fiori Plugins – one for each type of Learner, and then assign permissions to the relevant Plugin to each group of Learners. The new Business Role (Content Role) functionality may help here, but I don’t know when Fiori will start fully supporting that.
