  1. Dirk, you posted about this error when generating a document: Microsoft Word template not found, select another template. It looks like the standard.dotx template is no longer available. I’ve checked several work areas and the dot template folder. Are we to select the single sap.dot template instead? Thank you!

    1. Hi, Sally. So there is no “standard.dotx” template that ships with SAP Enable Now, so my guess is it was a customized one that has either been accidentally removed, or – possibly – it was removed during a version upgrade. The standard SAP ones are sap.dot, sap_title.dot, sap_title_toc.dot plus the specialized ones for BPP, A&C etc. So if you can’t find standard.dotx I’d suggest just using sap(_*).dot instead – and accepting that you might need to re-do your customization. Sorry.

      1. Thank you! My client doesn’t like to see the explanations in the table row format, is there a setting I can change to just show it as text, versus in a table row?

        1. I used to have a customized script that would merge Explanations into the same Step/Action table, but SAP ‘fixed’ something in the last release that stopped it from working. The only option you have is to set the icon to None in the simulation – then it will treat it as a ‘normal’ step. The downside is that you then don’t get icons during simulation playback, either. (I had one client who manually added their own icon to each Explanation bubble, but that’s painful to do…)

          1. Oh, that may work!! Thank you so much!! My client doesn’t like the simulations…sigh

  2. Hi Dirk,

I wanted to ask you something. I’ve generated simulations with their modes and the PDF documentation, but the documentation isn’t displaying in student mode. Do you know why this might be and how to make it appear?

    Thanks a lot!

    1. Hi, Maria. Do you actually see the document generated under the Simulation (if you expand the Simulation in Producer)? If yes, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t appear at the bottom of the rightmost pane in the Trainer. If you don’t see it under the Simulation then something has gone wrong with the generation. Can you generate it OK in Word? If yes, then something is wrong with the PDF generation (as SEN creates the Word, and then ‘prints’ that to PDF. If you can’t generate Word either then something is wrong with Word. Let me know.

      1. Thank you for your response. I can see the PDF in the simulation, and the Word document works correctly, but I don’t know why it’s not showing up in the learning view. Could it be a display setting?

        1. Ohhh, you’re wanting it to show up in Learner View. OK, well no, I don’t think it is supposed to work like that (being accessed directly). If you drop a simulation into a course (directly) you can launch that simulation and it will open in the Trainer and you can see the document as usual, but it is not a ‘tracked’ component of the simulation – only (all) the playback modes are. If you really want to track ‘completion’ of a PDF (which is really just confirming they opened it) you could insert it onto a Book Page as an HTML object and then include that Book Page in the course…

  3. Hi Dirk, Hope you are doing well. I wanted to check on compatibility between Enable Now 2311 and S/4HANA 2025?

    1. Hi, Kate. I’m assuming your SAP Enable Now instance is on-premise if you are still on the 2311 version? And I assume you are referring to the compatibility of SAP Companion with S/4HANA for in-application help? In which case is your SAP Companion Framework installed locally? And if so, what version is that? If it is cloud, or one of the later versions, I don’t see why there would be any problems with it. If you’re asking whether there is pre-built content available, I would assume so (SAP wouldn’t just remove all of it – although they may move it to WalkMe at some point…), but the PAM is currently locked, so I can’t check that. That said, this page: https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_ENABLE_NOW/de298b01689a443a9afcedbbee576276/1332b4df1415466daaf34bb199e77a02.html (Supported Applications) only goes to 2023, although that could just be because they haven’t updated it. Bottom line: I can’t say for 100% sure, but I also haven’t heard of any problems through my regular channels. Sorry I can’t be more categorical.

  4. Hi Dirk,
    Hope you are doing well.
I face this issue sometimes – what I see in the text box or placeholders, in a book page or a description section of a simulation, while in edit mode (sometimes even in edit mode) I do not see in playback mode. If there is an image added in the Description, it does not display, the image is appended under the simulation.

One more issue that I have not faced so far but am facing now is that the logo that I have added as part of the trainer style is not visible. Not like there is a blank space in that place, there are navigation buttons or some other buttons. Any ideas why it is not visible on the top-left corner of the trainer bar?

    Thank you for your help,
    Johanna
