The Complete Web Assistant

My second book on SAP Enable Now, The Complete Web Assistant, is now available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and on this site, enablenowexpert.com.

This is the book I was originally asked to write, but then I ended up documenting everything a training developer might need to know, in SAP Enable Now Development. That book devoted a whole 40-page chapter to Web Assistant, but when SAP Enable Now 20.05 was released in May this year, with its overhaul of the Web Assistant, that chapter was significantly out of date.

In the 18 months since SAP Enable Now Development was published, I’ve been dragged deeper into Web Assistant, and realized that people needed more help than just instructions on how to create help tiles. So in this new 250-page book I’ve covered everything from initial implementation, through configuration and customization, to creation of help content. At the same time, I’ve incorporated all of the little changes SAP have put into Web Assistant since the last book. There’s some large changes, and also a lot of smaller changes that you might overlook unless you specifically know where to find them. I also found a few undocumented features (no, that’s not a euphemism – some of them are truly useful) at the same time, and made sure they’re no longer undocumented. I’ve also liberally sprinkled the book with hints and tips from my own experience of implementing and using Web Assistant.

The Complete Web Assistant is as up-to-date as I could make it, but with SAP pushing updates to Web Assistant out every couple of weeks, this is a never-ending game of catch-up. In fact, I published the book on 4th August 2020, and SAP released a new version on the 6th! C’est la vie. If there is a significant change I’ll publish a ‘2nd Edition’, but in the meantime, to keep up with the latest changes, follow me on Twitter @enablenowexpert, where I post details of new features as soon as I see them (including the August 6th 2.4.11 release, which I covered the same day).

The Complete Web Assistant is available now (delayed print-on-demand schedule notwithstanding), and if you buy it from this site, you get a free download of the eBook – because you shouldn’t have to pay for the same information twice (and the formatting isn’t as ‘fluid/adaptable’ as I’d like). Enjoy!
